Ingredients
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef
- 1 large egg
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup dried bread crumbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ⅓ cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons prepared mustard
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mix the meatloaf: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, chopped onion, milk, bread crumbs, salt, and pepper. Use your hands or a spoon to mix everything together until well incorporated.
Form the loaf: Transfer the meat mixture into a loaf pan, shaping it into a loaf shape if needed.
Prepare the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and prepared mustard. This will create a sweet and tangy glaze for the top of the meatloaf.
Top the meatloaf: Spread the ketchup mixture evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
Bake: Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for about 60-75 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through (the internal temperature should reach 160°F/70°C).
Serve: Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
